Genestor Client Case Studies

Trinitas Hospital, several years ago, was faced with a major system problem. An old Cerner lab system that was being maintained for access to critical blood bank data needed to be relocated. The hospital IT staff was hesitant to move the fragile system and had insufficient support for the aging hardware. Working with CIO, Judy Comitto, and Blood Bank Director, Kathy Strotz, Genestor came up with a solution to restore the Cerner information to Genestor’s eDocNet document management system. Trinitas Hospital now has full access and search capabilities to all previous reports via a secure Web application. Based on just the Cerner support fees, the return on investment from the project was realized within one year. Trinitas Hospital is now saving, on a continuing basis, over $2,000 per month in support fees.

DS Services located in Lyndhurst, NJ, provides professional medical billing and practice management services for 39 physicians. Roberta DiMartini, President of DS Services, was concerned about controlling overhead: “As our business grew, we constantly needed to hire more clerical staff just to keep up with all the regulatory documentation requirements. We had to relocate to a new facility with more office space and a larger paper-file storage room. With more future growth projected, I had to have a way to reduce this continuing expense spiral. Genestor understood our issues and requirements and provided a solution that integrated with our existing billing system. All paper is now quickly scanned into the system and directly related to the patient’s billing information. Everyone can securely access supporting documents online, eliminating time-consuming manual searches through file cabinets. We’ve recovered all of our file room for additional office space, and the use of costly off-site document storage and retrieval is a thing of the past. After implementing the Genestor eDocNet document management system, we significantly increased the efficiency of our staff and easily added more clients. The payback realized was less than a year.”

Schachter Portnoy, L.L.C is a full service collection law firm based in Princeton, N.J., with the ability to provide a wide variety of collection, receivable and billing functions. Their use of the latest technologies allows them to operate as an extension of their client’s business office. As a result, they are able to handle all collection and receivable matters from initial claim submission to legal action and recovery. As their business expanded, they needed to automate the extensive data collection process and effectively manage report distribution. Genestor created an SQL based interface to their legacy Collection Master® system that enabled them to automate the capture of patient and financial information. Where previously reports were printed and mailed, now, using Genestor’s GenWebReports, they can automatically create and generate this information.  These reports are then sent to the Genestor eDocNet system where clients can remotely and securely login and view or print their own reports. Before these solutions were in place, several employees were required to perform data entry and report distribution functions. Now it is totally automated which frees the employees to focus directly on the collection process.

Pascack Valley Hospital a valued client was forced to close in 2007. They were now faced with the monumental task of archiving all their records. The existing systems could be maintained as is for record retrieval. This option would cost PVH over $50,000 in monthly maintenance for many years. Before PVH closed, the Genestor eDocNet system was being used by registration to capture and distribute all admitting documents. CIO Joe Palombit called to inquire if the eDocNet system could archive these records. Working with the IT staff at PVH, Genestor implemented a solution to capture, archive and host the electronic lab and financial records. The total project costs came to less than PVH would have spent in one year to maintain these records using their present systems.
